What qBary stores

Reading the site needs no account and stores nothing about you. If you create an account, qBary keeps: your email address and optional display name, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), and your reading data — shelves, ratings, read dates, tags, and any library-sharing invitations you send or accept. Books you add that aren't in the catalog go into a shared, anonymous book pool; nothing in it records who added what.

qBary runs no ads and no third-party trackers, and never sells your data. The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in. Two services process data on qBary's behalf: Cloudflare (hosting and the database) and Resend (account email — verification, password resets, sharing notifications; never marketing).

Your data is yours

Export everything on your shelves any time from your account — a Goodreads-compatible CSV or JSON.

Delete your account from the same page. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account, shelves, ratings, read dates, tags, and sharing are erased. Two honest caveats: contributions to the anonymous book pool aren't tied to you and persist, and the database's rolling backups age out within about 30 days.
