What qBary stores

Reading the site needs no account and stores nothing that identifies you. If you create an account, qBary keeps: your email address and optional display name, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), and your reading data — shelves, ratings, read dates, tags, private notes, and any library-sharing invitations you send or accept. Notes are visible only to you — never on a shared library. Books you add that aren't in the catalog go into a shared, anonymous book pool; nothing in it records who added what.

qBary runs no ads, doesn't track you across other sites, and never sells your data. It does count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. It records the page, the site that linked to it, and the visitor's country, browser and device type, and qBary sees these only as totals. The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in. Two services process data on qBary's behalf: Cloudflare (hosting, the database, and those page-view counts) and Resend (account email — verification, password resets, sharing notifications; never marketing).

Your data is yours

Export everything on your shelves any time from your account — a Goodreads-compatible CSV or JSON.

Delete your account from the same page. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account, shelves, ratings, read dates, tags, and sharing are erased. Two honest caveats: contributions to the anonymous book pool aren't tied to you and persist, and the database's rolling backups age out within about 30 days.
